Guten Morgen Alle!
I find it hard to believe that I've already been here for over a month. On one hand, it seems like I've been here forever, but on the other hand it seems like I just got here! Sortof a strange feeling! But here we are, at Easter Break already!
So school was pretty normal after I got back from Paris. My classes are all going pretty well, nothing to difficult. My Harmony 4 class is the hardest one so far, because I've always had issues understanding music theory. I'm just very thankful that I'm taking Harmony 4 here, where I only have 1 other classmate, rather than having to be in a full class. It definitely gives me the opportunity to ask lots of questions, which is really nice because there's a lot of questions that I have regarding Harmony! haha.
I got the opportunity to go to Basel, Switzerland, with my Art History class, and that was a really great trip! We studied an old cathedral, and then went to an art gallery, which was awesome. We also got a chance to go to a well known chocolate shop and get some sweets, which was AWESOME. But I think the funnies part of the day was what we ended up doing for lunch... We were walking around and were sooooo hungry, when we saw a good looking pizza place called "Sam's Pizza World: American Pizza" hahaha. Every single pizza was named after a different American state or city. We felt kindof bad because we're all the way in Basel and we choose to have American Pizza, buuuttt it tasted really good. I had no regrets.
And then the very next weekend, our break started! And guess what I got to do for the weekend... go to beautiful Interlaken, Switzerland, with my dear friend Danielle Martin!! It was FANTASTIC. Danielle had been studying in Germany for some time, and had a few extra days of free time before she headed home to Edmonton, so we decided to do some traveling together while we're both abroad!! We left early on Saturday morning, caught the train which took us to Basel, and then from Basel we rode the train into the Alps. It was so amazing, I saw the Alps and was so overwhelmed! It's been a dream of mine to see the Alps, and it was just so incredible to have that dream finally come true!! So awesome. The Alps are BEAUTIFUL. They reminded me so much of the Rockies and being in the mountains at home.
So we got to Interlaken at about 12:30pm, and then had the whole rest of the day to explore the town! We checked into our hosel around 1, and wow what a place it was!! It was such a fun place to hang out, and pretty much everyone that was staying there was American or Asian and traveling through the area, so it was cool to meet some more travelers! A lot of them were our age too, which was fun. We met a whole group of US. Army guys, and they were fun to talk to.
So anyways, on saturday, we just walked around the town, took lots of pictures, and then went to a chocolate show at a Swiss Chocolatier called Shuh. I definitely had a chocolate coma after THAT. The chocolate was sooooo good! I bought lots after haha. The NEXT day, we went to a high-ropes course, which was a lot of fun! There were lots of ziplines in the courses, which was definitely the best part. And we definitely reached Tarzan Status after that day... We literally had to swing on ropes from one platform to the next at one point. It was too funny.
Our train back to Freiburg was scheduled for late Monday afternoon, so we spent most of the day on Monday hiking. It was pretty tiring and tough, but SOOO worth it. We got some beautiful views of the area and the surrounding mountains. Truly an amazing sight, and I could've stayed up there all day :) Then we headed back to Freiburg. But our time together wasn't TOTALLY over... we still had Tuesday... which we used to go to EUROPA PARK!!!!!!! SOOO MUUUCCHHH FUNNNN!!! We went on EVERY big roller coaster, and a bunch of other rides too, man it was a great time. Europa Park is such an awesome park because everything is so detailed! Every ride has a distinct theme, every area is perfectly decorated and built. The way they built it is that every different section of the park is a different European country, and you literally felt like you'd seen all of Europe after just one day at Europa Park. That night I still felt like I was riding roller coasters...
And now Danielle has left, and I've got the rest of the Easter Break to myself. I'll be spending the break in Freiburg so I can save some money, but it'll be nice to just have some time to myself to practice, read, relax, go to cafés, and spend time with God, reading my Bible and praying and being in His presence. I'm planning on going to the big Catholic cathedral, the Münster, for the Easter services, so I'm really looking forward to that.
That's about it for now! Herzliche Grüße für Ostern alle! <3
liebe hannah ;)
