Hallo und Guten Tag alle!
So after a strenuous two months of relaxing and hanging out,
I have finally officially begun my classes here at the Jazz & Rock Schule
Freiburg. I have a total of six classes, some of which meet twice a week, but
it still makes for a pretty free schedule, which is nice. Since the classes
we’re taking are only for Berklee students, our class sizes range from 1 – 4,
which is pretty different from what I’m used to at Berklee (except labs I
suppose…). Today I had Harmony 4, which I only take with one other partner in
crime, which means that I can’t fall asleep in class… gotta keep alert! But
it’s actually pretty good. My teacher, Tom Timmler, seems to be a very
knowledgeable person and he also seems to be a good teacher too, so I’m
actually looking forward to the class. And since the class size is so small, we
basically get private instruction, so we should be experts at Harmony before
June comes along.
After that the four of us Freiburgers went to another campus
to start our German language study. It’s interesting because two of us (myself
included) have a background in German, while the other two are beginners. It’s
good to be able to help the others, but the two of us who have a bit more
experience have talked about maybe getting into a higher-level class, so
hopefully that happens. But it was still a fun class.
Today I practiced for the first time in a few weeks, and
thanks to God’s goodness, my knee is doing just fine!! Praise the Lord!! It
felt so good to get started on some work. I’m going to try to get into it
slowly though, just to be safe. Right now my left arm is kindof feeling the
workout a bit, so I’ll have to make sure I keep up my exercising and what-not
so I can SHRED LIKE A BEAST!! That’s the current goal.
I met some of the German students today, which was cool!
They’re just like the students at Berklee and MacEwan! It’s so cool how music
is such an international language. Pretty much everywhere you go, you meet
people who you can relate to through music, which is a pretty cool thing. I’m
going to be jamming some metal tunes with some of the German students on
Friday, so that’ll be really fun. I’m pretty excited about that.
And of course, the food continues to impress. I’m afraid I’m
going to gain a lot of weight because I’ll just want to eat so much! Oh well, I
guess I should load up on good European food now while I can!
Well that’s it for now. Bis bald!
